We didn’t celebrate Halloween much when I was young but where we live now, here in Queenstown, people really get into it! That means my kids are very invested! This Halloween Chocolate Bark is an easy sweet treat to make, even the kids can get involved if you like.

Ingredients in Halloween Chocolate Bark:
- Dark Chocolate – I have used Dark Chocolate Buttons
- White Chocolate – It is best to use cooking chocolate for this. I used White Chocolate Buttons
- Sweets & sprinkles for decorating – I used green and orange colours for the Halloween theme.

How to make Halloween Chocolate Bark:
Line a baking tray with baking paper and melt the chocolate over a double boiler by taking a medium sized pot and add enough water to water to come up around 2 inches high in the pot. Take a metal bowl the fits well on top of the pot and place the dark chocolate inside. Make sure that the bottom of the bowl doesn’t touch the water. We want no water to touch the bowl or get into the chocolate.

Melt the chocolate, stirring until all melted and smooth. Set aside. Stirring occasionally while you melt the white chocolate so it stays melted. Melt the white chocolate in a new bowl and once smooth place in a piping bag or small plastic ziplock bag. Pour the dark chocolate over the baking paper and use a palette knife or the back of a spoon to spread and smooth out.

Cut the end of your piping bag or plastic bag and pipe circles inside each other. If you leave a little space between them this gives space for the cobwebs. Then get a skewer and make the circles into cobwebs by running the skewer from the centre to the outside of the sheet. Sprinkle over your sweets, I find less in more in this case. Leave the chocolate to harden and then you can break it into pieces of bark with your hands.

Common questions about Halloween Chocolate Bark:
I’m scared about melting chocolate, can I use the microwave? Sure can, just melt the chocolate in short bursts and stop and stir regularly while melting.
What chocolate is best? I have used chocolate that is found in the baking section that is good for melting.
