March 3, 2022 by themacphersondiaries 2 Comments

This Creamy Pasta is my kids’ favourite and they ask for it weekly! It is speedy, easy and versatile. You’ll love it as much as we do.

I think one of the reasons that I cook my Creamy Pasta so often (other than because its a crowd pleaser) is because I usually have most of these ingredients on hand. I have even started buying UHT cream to have in the cupboard too. Plus if I don’t have ham and peas, I will sub it for chicken or bacon, corn or carrots. Love a good versatile recipe!

What ingredients go into the Creamy Pasta?

  • Pasta– I’ve used Spaghetti
  • Butter
  • Crushed Garlic
  • Cream
  • Ham, chopped
  • Salt and pepper
  • Frozen Peas
  • Grated Cheese – have used Colby

How to make Creamy Pasta – The Kids Favourite :

Cook the pasta in salted water as per packet directions.

While the pasta is cooking, add the butter to a large pan on a medium heat and once melted add the garlic, stir so the garlic doesn’t burn. Add the cream and ham and cook for a couple of minutes until cream has reduced a little. Season well with salt and pepper.

Side note, did you know that these spoons with the hole in Babu88 them are to measure portions of pasta? So cool right?!

When the pasta has cooked, don’t drain it, simply use tongs to add the pasta to the creamy sauce. You will end up with some pasta water going into the sauce which is exactly what we want. The pasta water helps the sauce become silky and delicious. Add the peas and cheese in now too.

Stir and taste, adjust seasoning if needed.

Once peas are cooked and you are happy with the sauce, serve.

Common questions about Creamy Pasta – The Kids Favourite:

Can I make other flavours? Absolutely, we love chicken and corn, or bacon and green beans, or just a whole bunch of vegetables.

What wine shall I serve with the Creamy Pasta? A lovely light Chardonnay would be a beautiful match.

Thanks for this recipe- I especially loved the tip about using tongs to add spaghetti so a little bit of water makes the pan too.
Kids and hubby loved it- will add basil pesto next time to change it up a bit.
