One of our favourite meals at home is Chicken Pitas. I serve them family style so everyone can pick and choose what they would like to fill their pita with. For this version I have used lots of fresh veggies like avocados and tomatoes and have made a tzatziki with the cucumber. So good!
Jump to RecipeYou guys this chicken is MEGA delicious! It is coated in Moroccan spice, paprika, lemon juice and honey and baked in the oven and OMG so good. It’s really versatile and I am already planning other dishes using this chicken as the star.
Ingredients:
- Cucumber
- Greek yoghurt, unsweetened
- Olive oil
- Mint
- Lemon juice
- Garlic, crushed
- Sea salt
- Pita breads
- Chicken thighs
- Moroccan seasoning OR use extra paprika
- Paprika
- Honey
- Avocados
- Cherry tomatoes
- Salt and pepper
- Red onion
- Herbs coriander or mint
- Feta, diced
How to make Chicken Pitas with Tzatziki:
Preheat oven to 180 fan bake. In a medium sided bowl add the chicken, 1 tablespoon olive oil, Moroccan seasoning, paprika, honey and lemon juice. Mix well and set aside. To make the tzatziki grate the cucumber and place in a tea towel and squeeze over the sink so that all the moisture is removed from the cucumber. Place cucumber in a bowl.
Add the remaining ingredients and stir. Set aside. Taste after 5 minutes and adjust seasoning if needed. Take the chicken and place on a lined baking tray and into the oven for 20-25 minutes While the chicken is cooking, slice your tomatoes and red onion and mix together with a little olive oil and salt and pepper. Place in a serving bowl and set aside. Slice avocado and set aside.
Warm pitas either on a char grill or microwave. When you are ready to serve, place some tomato mix in the pita, top with avocado, chicken, herbs, and tzatziki, finish with feta, a dusting of paprika and serve .

Common questions about Chicken Pita with Tzatziki:
If I don’t like Chicken? You could make this with thin slices of beef or lamb, however fry these in a hot pan instead of baking it in the oven.
What can I make in advance? You can marinate the chicken up to 12 hours in advance. You can make the tzatziki up to 24 hours in advance.
What wine would you serve with this dish? A lovely dry Riesling.

- 1 large telegraph cucumber
- 1 ½ cups Greek yoghurt unsweetened

- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 clove of garlic crushed
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
Pitas
- 4 pita breads
- 6 chicken thighs
- 1 tablespoon olive oil plus extra olive oil
- 1 tablespoons Moroccan seasoning
- 1 tablespoon Paprika
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice around the juice of 1 lemon
- 2 Avocados
- 1 punnet of Cherry tomatoes
- Salt and pepper
- ½ a Red onion
Garnish
- Herbs coriander or mint
- Dust with paprika
- 100 grams Feta diced
